Octavian, 32 – 27 Bronze uncertain mint in Cilicia or Syria circa 30 BC, Æ 21mm., 8.14g. Bare head r. Rev. Sella Quaestoria between hasta and fiscus; below, Q. FITA pl. II, 3. Sear Imperators 957. RPC 5409.

There is some debate as to the portrait on this type, as well as its origin. The obverse style is strikingly similar to that of RPC 4082 (Cilicia), which has the legend PRINCEPS FELIX, identifying the portrait indubitably as Augustus. It has also been suggested that the type portrays C. Sosius, a general of Marc Antony, who was quaestor of Syria and Cilicia in 38 BC.

Lovely style. About extremely fine.

Gaius, 37-41 Sestertius circa 40-41, Æ 26mm., 27.61g. CAESAR DIVI AVG PRON AVG P M TR P IMPPietas seated l., holding patera and leaning l. elbow on small facing figure. Rev. Gaius, veiled and togate, offering from patera above altar before elaborately decorated hexastyle temple of Divus Augustus, garlanded for sacrifice; before and partly behind him, an attendant restrains bull, while a second attendant looking l. holds another patera. C 11. RIC 51.

Brown tone heavily tooled, otherwise about extremely fine
